I don't know what your daughter's school is like, but at mine, the 'advanced group' seemed way too competetive (I also try to do as little work as possible). I also found that helping the other kids in the regular track made me learn better- to this day I could explain the plot of "Frankenstein", which I had to explain to a bunch of football players in high school.
