You just need to rework your thinking on that LOL.

I have a select group of people that I respect as fanfic writers - if they comment on my work then I feel as though it was good. If they don't...then I take myself back to the drawing board.

And while the banner maybe "just text" and a picture - it takes an eye to see what matches up. Simplicity isn't a concept all people grasp :)
