scrapbook: halloween 2010

Next set is up. I really need to quit making these and work on my 9 page paper that is due in a little over 8 hours (YIKES!), but I had to finish these up.

For those wondering, the costume Owen is wearing is made of clothes I bought at the Salvation Army in 1997 (I think) as my own costume. Brenna's costume I mad, sans pattern, in 2007 for Meagan. It was made to fit her body so the belt with the tail almost didn't fit around Brenna's normal sized frame (she was almost 8 in 2010). Nora's costume I started in 2005, but we ended up not going out that year because I was sick and it was freezing out. I finished it in 2006 for Meagan to wear. I also knit the hat Jack was wearing (without a pattern--I finished it just in time to go trick-or-treating).

Meagan was 10, Owen had just turned 9, Brenna was going to turn 8 the next week, Nora was 4 1/2, and Jack was 3 1/2 months old.

See the kid in this icon? This was my hands-down best-behaved, most law abiding kid. Her first Hallowe'en costume was a devil costume, and she carried a plastic mini devil's pitchfork which was about 18 inches long, tiny for an adult, but just about right for a shortish 19 month old.

I don't think we ever dressed he up for her first Hallowe'en. She was only 7 months old, and I felt like she wouldn't have gotten anything out of it.
