Jack/Sam shippers...

I signed up to do the [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang with a Jack/Sam story but now I can't figure out what to write.  So I was just wondering what all everyone else likes to read in a Jack/Sam story.

I know what I like to read... something adventure oriented with a bunch of angsting and UST with maybe some resolution at the end.  I usually don't read fluffy, romantic stuff (sometimes I get in a kick, especially if it's humorous, too).  I guess I also lean towards a hurt/comfort story within the adventure.  Did I mention I like adventure stories?  I tend to want to write them but they always come out super looooooong.  Which is great for [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang.  Not so great when I'm trying to finish stuff up or for other challenges, lol.

So what does everyone else like to read?

And any plot ideas you've been wanting to read but haven't found written yet?  Or just general ideas.  I have a tentative storyline but I'm open to suggestions/ideas on plot.

bad driver Sam
WHAT

Seriously, what? Who did that?

I haven't completely adopted Sam/Jack as one of my Top 10 Stargate 'ships yet, but I'm having a hard time imagining my beautiful, brilliant, kickass Samantha Carter as a bad driver.

Not when she can fly a frelling jet at Mach 3, remote-pilot a UAV FROM ACROSS THE GALAXY, ride & repair a vintage motorcycle, and you know, drive to work every morning without incident.

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't get that one either. I could picture Daniel being a bad driver because he gets lost in his own thoughts or distracted but not Sam. She'd probably be a good driver even while texting and eating a Big Mac while putting on makeup, lol.
ext_391411: There is a god sitting here with wet fingers. (geek-sexy)

[identity profile] campylobacter.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
LOL (Not that she would text & drive, but still... Sam's far too capable to be incompetent behind the wheel.)

I made a picspam a year ago titled "The Cars They Drive":
http://campylobacter.livejournal.com/43803.html
where we discussed the topic. And even Daniel would be a capable driver, based on how he handled the rented Land Rover in Cairo and given that he owned a vintage Jeep.

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Of course Sam would never bet that irresponsible but if she had to text and drive you know she would still drive better than the average driver that was actually paying attention.

That's true about Daniel, too, although out of the 4 I think it's most plausible for him being a bad driver.
ext_391411: There is a god sitting here with wet fingers. (awesome)

[identity profile] campylobacter.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
If there were an obstacle course competition between Jack, Sam, Teal'c, Cam, Vala & Daniel... Daniel would probably finish last.

But he'd still be a better driver than most of the idiots driving here in SoCal.

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, that would be hilarious to watch. I could see it coming down to Sam and Cam trying to best each other.

SG-1 Girls Gone Bad

[personal profile] lolmac 2011-06-10 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam would whomp up a device that did her texting for her, while she concentrated on driving.

Vala would con someone else into driving, so she could concentrate on texting.

Then she would Tweet a picture of a hot dog to Daniel, titling it "OMG look at this weiner".

Daniel rues the day he directed Vala to UrbanDictionary.com.

Re: SG-1 Girls Gone Bad

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. Can you imagine Vala with access to social networking. She'd be the most popular person on facebook.

Just her having access to the internet would be a bad idea. Information is a weapon for her.
ext_391411: I'd like that with a side order of Vala. (waitress)

[identity profile] campylobacter.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Vala would troll the corporate FB that Ba'al uses as a front/fence for funding the Trust, and Sam would hack it.

YAY ANOTHER PLOTBUNNY!

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Plot bunnies are evil when you have too much other stuff to write.

I'd like to see what Vala tweets. How about a twitter conversation between SG-1. I've seen some email conversation ones. I'm sure someone has done twitter ones.

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO. Those are great.

[identity profile] magnavox-23.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I think the bad driver Sam thing comes from that line Jack says in Chimera "Speeding again?" which suggests she may have gotten a few tickets in the past though I suspect it's moreso Jack only teasing that that's how Sam picked up her cop boyfriend, :P
ext_391411: There is a god sitting here with wet fingers. (awesome)

[identity profile] campylobacter.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
If I pulled over Samantha Carter for speeding, she'd be able to not only talk me out of a ticket, but out of anything she wanted!

[identity profile] magnavox-23.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO!

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
I always thought it implied Sam was an adrenaline junkie that rode her motorcycle way too fast and got tickets. That doesn't necessarily imply bad driving.

[identity profile] magnavox-23.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Of course the show was implying she was an adrenaline junkie - as they did in Space Race also, but fans have been known to misinterpret things and fandom clichés grow yadda yadda, heh.

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Scratches head and wonders what show other fans are watching to think Sam could ever be a bad driver, lol.

[identity profile] magnavox-23.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh sadly the same one that makes fans think Jack & Daniel have beagles and a bajillion kids or that SG-1 can have Thor's ass babies...XD

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Beagles?

Then again I've written some crack!fic with Jack, Sam and Daniel all pregnant (along with Janet) at the same time (Daniel with twins that are also Jack's and another that is Teal'c's), lol.

But I intentionally set out to write something craptastic. I thought it was pretty funny. I had other people take it way too seriously and complain that it was bad (which was the point so I guess it was a WIN for me).

[identity profile] magnavox-23.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
You are blissfully ignorant of Beagle!fic, lucky you! ;D

The ass babies one was lovely crack (as it were :P). Crack is a world unto it's own, I've written Jack & Danny make a porno to raise money for the SGC, and Sam builds a naquadah powered dildo, etc etc, bwah! ;P

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Good crack is good.

[identity profile] oceania.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I have read it all. I read one where Sam needed to have Jack drive a military jeep because she couldn't drive a standard. That's my big issue with the storeis I've rad...Sam is not Sams.

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously? Do they even watch the show because I'm pretty sure the car she normally drives is a manual.

[identity profile] oceania.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
We all need to write some good Sam/Jack fic. It's my next project. I am sure it is going to be hard now that I've said all the things I CAN"T do! LOL.

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well I try to write "good" Sam/Jack fic. I hope I succeed.

Of course, I've learned the hard way you can't please everyone. I had someone argue relentlessly about the ending to one of my fics. She didn't like it and thought I should change it.

OY.

[identity profile] oceania.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Link me to your favourite story so I can read one on the weekend. Iwould love to havea "shorter"one though since I am visually impaired and slightly crazed with work this weekend. :)

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
What are you in the mood for? I don't have any of my favorites bookmarked on this computer and everything I read is downloaded to my e-reader.

My favorite Sam/Jack stories are all by [livejournal.com profile] annerbhp. Some are pretty long and dark.

[identity profile] oceania.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I wanted you to pick the favourtie one YOU had written. :)

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
You mean you want me to choose my favorite?

That's like making me choose my favorite of my kids, lol.

I think my favorite Sam/Jack one is Plans Change (http://jennickels.livejournal.com/34275.html). It's one of the first I ever wrote--stayed up all night on Christmas writing it actually. And Blame it on the Heat (http://jennickels.livejournal.com/60950.html).

Man in the Box (http://jennickels.livejournal.com/50577.html) is probably the one I'm most proud of it and it's a Daniel goes slowly mad under torture fic. Although I've had people complain about the ending.
ext_391411: There is a god sitting here with wet fingers. (fierce bitch)

[identity profile] campylobacter.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Who are these writers??!!

Wait, NO. I don't want to know. That was a rhetorical question.

[identity profile] oceania.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I stumbled around an FF.net trying to find my people before I found y'all on LJ. I found the first good story and sent fanmail and the rest is "history" as they say.

Sam in leather on a bike is a thought I am keeping tonight though...okay, I'll be the cop and she can be herself...and she can say..."Officer, is there ANYthing I can do to make it up to you?" RAWR!!!!

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
LOL on the Sam fantasy.

I guess I missed all the crappy writing because when I first started reading SG-1 fic I went straight to the Sam/Jack rec thread at Gateworld. Almost every story I've read has been recced there (and I'd say 95% of them I liked).
ext_391411: Vala had her hand on that sword hilt a long time. (metaphor)

[identity profile] campylobacter.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO

I confess to some dirty, dirty thoughts while watching FiaD as Jack & Sam visit Daniel's apartment, and Jack's in black leather:
http://www.gateworld.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=164053&fullsize=1
And Sam's in black leather:
http://www.gateworld.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=164054&fullsize=1
...just a though they'd been riding around on their motorcycles like a couple badasses.

NOMNOMNOMNOM

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
They ALL wear black leather. I remember commenting on that when I first started watching (which was a couple years ago). I'm like, "what's with all the leather?"

Not that I'm complaining or anything.

[identity profile] oceania.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Shall we ask ourselves why they appear that way in Daniel's "dream/fanasy"? Hmmmmm....

[identity profile] magnavox-23.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel has unexplored depths of kink...we can only help him to explore each and ever one...you know, for purely scientific purposes...or something like that. :D

[identity profile] jennickels.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's always the innocent looking ones that are the kinkiest.
