Jack/Sam shippers...

I signed up to do the het_bigbang with a Jack/Sam story but now I can't figure out what to write.  So I was just wondering what all everyone else likes to read in a Jack/Sam story.

I know what I like to read... something adventure oriented with a bunch of angsting and UST with maybe some resolution at the end.  I usually don't read fluffy, romantic stuff (sometimes I get in a kick, especially if it's humorous, too).  I guess I also lean towards a hurt/comfort story within the adventure.  Did I mention I like adventure stories?  I tend to want to write them but they always come out super looooooong.  Which is great for het_bigbang.  Not so great when I'm trying to finish stuff up or for other challenges, lol.

So what does everyone else like to read?

And any plot ideas you've been wanting to read but haven't found written yet?  Or just general ideas.  I have a tentative storyline but I'm open to suggestions/ideas on plot.

I love Jack. I love Sam. I have never read a decent story with them as a couple so here is a list of what I have read and wish never to see again. LOL

Okay--here is what many s/j shippers do that I abhor.

-hurt/comfort where she is a crybaby and Jack is her daddy

-presidential allowance for breaking hte regs and dating while on the same team
-helpless Sam
-bad driver Sam
-Jack calling her 'little girl"
-sex over a desk
-Sam is scared of Jack's penis
-Sam has never given a blowjob
-Sam has never had anyone go down on her
-nymphomaniac Sam
-rapist Jack
-Thor erases Sam's memory of having a child with Jack and takes the baby
-use of "Oh Jack, you're so big and strong!"

I could go on. I have never found a Sam/Jack story that was good. I crave foran adult relationship bewteen equals who have a great time in bed. Just a grown up relationship. Capable Sam te Colonel with three star General who loves her, doesn't want to dominate or humiliate her. Cherishes her. Values her opinion. You know,m the guy in teh show?

If you could give the fandom that? I would die of squee.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I'm guilty of any of those... yet (at least, I don't think I've published any of those kind of stories). I did have one where Jack's at home with their multiple kids for humorous effect but it's not finished or published.

I do have a story idea that starts with Jack being a dick (which isn't necessarily out of character for him) and it causes him to lose his friends and regret being a dick and have to earn their respect again. I like those stories if they're done well.

I'm not good at writing them in a relationship so I tend to stay with them leading up to something.

Sweetie that sounds canonically correct. Jack can be a dick and there's plenty of times he has tried to alienate his friends. A good adventure would be that he does it to "save them" or because he's gone black ops again. I like Black Ops Jack. LOL.

I love it when there is a realistic resolution to UST. There doesn't have to be sex. The list above was me listing the badfic I've read for you amusement. I am positive your Sam will be the real Sam not clingy girly Sam.

The ones where he is a dick are the ones wehre he is OOC and hits her or cheats. I've read them all. I particularly hated one where he raped her and she "liked it" Srsly,m what?

Pining!Jack is fun and I would love to read good fic about that. Not love stupid Jack but just longing for her you know? LIke in the show? mmmmmmyumyumyum..

ooh... pining!Jack. I like him. All the angst. I have one in my head that starts with Sam actually going through with the wedding to Pete (for whatever reason) and Jack just can't deal with that so slowly pulls away, moving to DC and just kind of ignoring it all. All the time pining away. Only to realize he can't actually live without his friends in his life.

To me that sounds like Jack. He's stubborn and can be a real ass but he's a good guy that will do the right thing in the end.

I haven't completely adopted Sam/Jack as one of my Top 10 Stargate 'ships yet, but I'm having a hard time imagining my beautiful, brilliant, kickass Samantha Carter as a bad driver.

Not when she can fly a frelling jet at Mach 3, remote-pilot a UAV FROM ACROSS THE GALAXY, ride & repair a vintage motorcycle, and you know, drive to work every morning without incident.

Yeah, I don't get that one either. I could picture Daniel being a bad driver because he gets lost in his own thoughts or distracted but not Sam. She'd probably be a good driver even while texting and eating a Big Mac while putting on makeup, lol.

Of course Sam would never bet that irresponsible but if she had to text and drive you know she would still drive better than the average driver that was actually paying attention.

That's true about Daniel, too, although out of the 4 I think it's most plausible for him being a bad driver.

I think the bad driver Sam thing comes from that line Jack says in Chimera "Speeding again?" which suggests she may have gotten a few tickets in the past though I suspect it's moreso Jack only teasing that that's how Sam picked up her cop boyfriend, :P

Then again I've written some crack!fic with Jack, Sam and Daniel all pregnant (along with Janet) at the same time (Daniel with twins that are also Jack's and another that is Teal'c's), lol.

But I intentionally set out to write something craptastic. I thought it was pretty funny. I had other people take it way too seriously and complain that it was bad (which was the point so I guess it was a WIN for me).

Of course, I've learned the hard way you can't please everyone. I had someone argue relentlessly about the ending to one of my fics. She didn't like it and thought I should change it.

I think my favorite Sam/Jack one is Plans Change (http://jennickels.livejournal.com/34275.html). It's one of the first I ever wrote--stayed up all night on Christmas writing it actually. And Blame it on the Heat (http://jennickels.livejournal.com/60950.html).

Man in the Box (http://jennickels.livejournal.com/50577.html) is probably the one I'm most proud of it and it's a Daniel goes slowly mad under torture fic. Although I've had people complain about the ending.
