amazon ordering

So, last week some time I decided I wanted to finally pick up the DVD collection of Farscape.  I've never seen an episode but I keep seeing caps and gifs from it and many of my flist love it... and Ben Browder and Claudia Black are just awesome so I started looking around.

Amazon had the collection for $52.  Not bad.  Along with the movie plus tax it was $64.  I had that up on my screen in one tab and was looking at ebay and found the DVD collection for $50 with free shipping.  Cool.  I could always order the movie later (it was $7 at Amazon).  At the time I thought our checking account was low on funds so ordering from ebay using my paypal appealed to me.

But as I was checking on shipping costs and stuf with Amazon I accidentally hit "order".  D'oh.  I immediately canceled the order and have the back to back email to confirm this.  My Amazon account also has no record of me ordering the DVDs.  So I went ahead and ordered them from the guy on ebay for $50.  I got an email from him yesterday saying he shipped them and they should be here next week.  Awesome.

Then the kids find a package from Amazon on the porch today.  You guessed it... a nice shiny set of Farscape DVDs.  But nothing in the box with my order, payment receipt or other shipping stuff they send.  Just the DVDs.  And, um, I canceled that order.  So I start freaking out that they put the order through anyway and that could have put our checking account into the red without me knowing and OMG!

So I look on Amazon... still no record of me ordering it.  The order # in the original email doesn't work.  Okay.  So I go to our checking account and, low and behold, we had plenty of money at the time I ordered (my husband miscalculated and we actually had like $550 instead of the $200 he thought we had, lol).  But there's no charge to Amazon at all.  Huh.

So now I have this "free" set of DVDs.  My moral compass says I should return it but I don't have a shipping or order #.  Pat of me wishes I hadn't ordered the ebay ones because then I could just keep the free set (moral compass be damned).  It would eat at my soul but I'd get over it.  I think.

Now I'm going to have 2 sets of this show.  Guess I'll have to to email Amazon and tell them someone in their warehouse screwed up but there's no record of this transaction.

Meanwhile the DVDs are sitting there in their plastic wrap being all tempting.

Anyone else have this happen?  Was it easy to ship the stuff back?

[and I'm still not liking what LJ did with their editors, it's all screwed up still.  and the automatic spellcheck is working like it used to, plus I can't edit anything in html once I've posted, but trying to edit automatically loads in the html editor and messes the entire post up so forgive me if there are spelling errors--I'm afraid to even try the spell check since nothing works.]

I've never had that happen! But I've dealt with other order weirdness with them, and it's always been pretty easy. I'm sure you can get them to cover the return shipping, anyway. No reason you should be out any money for their mistake.

Also, the fact that they're now selling the entire series for $52 kind of makes me want to cry. I paid something like $80 for a used copy of the first season way back when (Amazon was charging something like $120 for new copies). I knew I should wait, but I started watching it during the third season and got obsessed, so I couldn't wait to see the rest of it.

It's seriously one of the best TV shows ever made. I hope you'll love it too!

AUGH! I just found out that Farscape will be coming out in Blu-ray. This is definitely one of the best TV series to have in that format.

Anyway, ask Amazon customer service what to do; if they fail to respond or hassle you, YOU HAVE A FREE SET OF DVDs to SELL or GIVE! :D

I'm seriously considering running an all-fandom campaign to dump LiveJournal & migrate to WordPress (or at the very least, Dreamwidth).

I hadn't noticed any problems when I post, which is a good thing, I guess. Just curious, are you using their Rich Text format to write your entries? If so, you may want to just go with HTML for all your posts and avoid the RTF at all cost.

I used their rich text format for only one entry, my Fanfic Index, but after several frustrating attempts to update it with a new fic, I finally gave up and redid the whole thing in HTML. Never had any troubles ever since!!

Now I only use HTML. Saves me from a lot of headaches!

a) Amazon is a champ about taking stuff back
b) Amazon never ships without charging you first
c) Random eBay sellers use Amazon boxes all the time.

Do nothing.
