So, last week some time I decided I wanted to finally pick up the DVD collection of Farscape.  I've never seen an episode but I keep seeing caps and gifs from it and many of my flist love it... and Ben Browder and Claudia Black are just awesome so I started looking around.

Amazon had the collection for $52.  Not bad.  Along with the movie plus tax it was $64.  I had that up on my screen in one tab and was looking at ebay and found the DVD collection for $50 with free shipping.  Cool.  I could always order the movie later (it was $7 at Amazon).  At the time I thought our checking account was low on funds so ordering from ebay using my paypal appealed to me.

But as I was checking on shipping costs and stuf with Amazon I accidentally hit "order".  D'oh.  I immediately canceled the order and have the back to back email to confirm this.  My Amazon account also has no record of me ordering the DVDs.  So I went ahead and ordered them from the guy on ebay for $50.  I got an email from him yesterday saying he shipped them and they should be here next week.  Awesome.

Then the kids find a package from Amazon on the porch today.  You guessed it... a nice shiny set of Farscape DVDs.  But nothing in the box with my order, payment receipt or other shipping stuff they send.  Just the DVDs.  And, um, I canceled that order.  So I start freaking out that they put the order through anyway and that could have put our checking account into the red without me knowing and OMG!

So I look on Amazon... still no record of me ordering it.  The order # in the original email doesn't work.  Okay.  So I go to our checking account and, low and behold, we had plenty of money at the time I ordered (my husband miscalculated and we actually had like $550 instead of the $200 he thought we had, lol).  But there's no charge to Amazon at all.  Huh.

So now I have this "free" set of DVDs.  My moral compass says I should return it but I don't have a shipping or order #.  Pat of me wishes I hadn't ordered the ebay ones because then I could just keep the free set (moral compass be damned).  It would eat at my soul but I'd get over it.  I think.

Now I'm going to have 2 sets of this show.  Guess I'll have to to email Amazon and tell them someone in their warehouse screwed up but there's no record of this transaction.

Meanwhile the DVDs are sitting there in their plastic wrap being all tempting.

Anyone else have this happen?  Was it easy to ship the stuff back?

[and I'm still not liking what LJ did with their editors, it's all screwed up still.  and the automatic spellcheck is working like it used to, plus I can't edit anything in html once I've posted, but trying to edit automatically loads in the html editor and messes the entire post up so forgive me if there are spelling errors--I'm afraid to even try the spell check since nothing works.]

I've never had that happen! But I've dealt with other order weirdness with them, and it's always been pretty easy. I'm sure you can get them to cover the return shipping, anyway. No reason you should be out any money for their mistake.

Also, the fact that they're now selling the entire series for $52 kind of makes me want to cry. I paid something like $80 for a used copy of the first season way back when (Amazon was charging something like $120 for new copies). I knew I should wait, but I started watching it during the third season and got obsessed, so I couldn't wait to see the rest of it.

It's seriously one of the best TV shows ever made. I hope you'll love it too!

I'm resigned to having to buy all my favorite movies & TV series AGAIN in Blu-ray. Oh well, I can always give away or sell for ultra-cheap the regular DVDs to fans who can't afford them.

Agreed on Farscape being one of the *BEST* TV shows ever made.

I think most of my favorite shows I either started watching from day one or picked up after the show ended and was able to get complete collections (Buffy, Angel, SG-1). And I waited to find them on sale.

When I first looked for Farscape last month it was like $80 or something and I was like, eh, I could swing that. Glad I waited for the price to drop even more.

AUGH! I just found out that Farscape will be coming out in Blu-ray. This is definitely one of the best TV series to have in that format.

Anyway, ask Amazon customer service what to do; if they fail to respond or hassle you, YOU HAVE A FREE SET OF DVDs to SELL or GIVE! :D

I'm seriously considering running an all-fandom campaign to dump LiveJournal & migrate to WordPress (or at the very least, Dreamwidth).

We don't have a blu-ray player. We're too poor to stay hip with all the new technologies. We got our first flat screen TV in 2009 and it's only a 26" (was for my bedroom but now it's our main TV). And we just got the satellite and DVD hooked up with hdmi cables back in June. Our DVD player is also the cheapest one we could find.

I don't have a Blu-ray player either, but Claudia Black is the reason I'm going to get one. She's the main reason I bought the complete SG-1 & Farscape series DVDs.

We got our DVD player after a friend passed away and left it to us. :( Our TV is still one of those awful CRTs, and we canceled cable because at almost $50/month, standard cable wasn't worth it. I watch my DVDs mainly on my iMac or Mr. Campy's iBook.

I hadn't noticed any problems when I post, which is a good thing, I guess. Just curious, are you using their Rich Text format to write your entries? If so, you may want to just go with HTML for all your posts and avoid the RTF at all cost.

I used their rich text format for only one entry, my Fanfic Index, but after several frustrating attempts to update it with a new fic, I finally gave up and redid the whole thing in HTML. Never had any troubles ever since!!

Now I only use HTML. Saves me from a lot of headaches!

I was using the rich text for just regular posts (like the one above). I wasn't having any problems with it before their update. I could easily switch between rich text and the html editor with no problems.

When I wanted to post my stories I copy/pasted my entire document into the html editor then would switch to the rich text one and bold/italicize the header and use the lj-cut button on the text. It worked nice and smooth.

For my master fic list I have the entire thing saved as plain text in notepad with all the html markup already in it so all I have to do is update that file then copy/paste it into the html editor.

None of that works any more for me.

Writing directly into the rich text box return tons of space between paragraphs.

Copy pasting into the html then switching to rich text and editing screws the entire post up.

Tried to edit my master fic list and that was impossible. I copied the text into the html editor and switched to rich text. It looked fine (like it always does except with the stupid, "lj cut must be edited..." crap over it. But when I saved it it came out as one giant paragraph of text. If you try and save while still in the html editor it returns a giant paragraph but with all the html tags added in.

It won't save any edits inputted in the rich text box (only in html). It'll let you edit but it doesn't save any of the changes.

And the lj-cut doesn't work at all for me. It shows the text behind the cut and all but when you save there's no cut. I haven't tried to do one from the html editor (other than my copy/paste for the master fic post which did not work at all).

a) Amazon is a champ about taking stuff back
b) Amazon never ships without charging you first
c) Random eBay sellers use Amazon boxes all the time.

Do nothing.

I had thought of "c". But the box has a shipping label on it and it's addressed to me from Amazon with a return address in Lexington, KY.

Someone at Amazon really screwed up because there's no record of this order and I was never charged (when I initially ordered then canceled or when it shipped). Weird.

My husband says to just keep it and we'll sell the other one. I was thinking of watching it tonight. My husband says I have to get off the computer at 5pm because of the freaking fantasy football draft.

So much for finishing up one of my 16 stories due tonight. Oh well. I'd basically given up on them. I need a break from writing for a couple days anyway.
