+Just checked our bank accounts and we had $40 in the checking account. We are poor. So what's new? Don't get me wrong, I'm laughing right now. I transferred $200 from the savings account because payday isn't until the 20th and Jack's almost out of diapers (enough to last today and maybe tomorrow) and we're down to 2 rolls of toilet paper for 6 people. Life is crazy. At the end of August we got down to just $25 in the checking account, lol. Had to transfer $100. Payday was the 5th but most of that check goes towards the rent. Can't wait until November when we start seeing hubby's raise on the checks. October 13 (I think it is) marks 11 years he's been with Southwest Airlines and that means he "tops out" his pay. He gets a $6/hour raise which will be active at the end of October but we won't see that until the first paycheck in November. Will be so nice to not have to worry about this crap any more. Oh, and interest to date this year on our checking account... $.01. LMAO!
+The house is all quiet and peaceful. Today is my first full day alone with Jack. So far so good. Woke up late thanks to way too much caffeine before bed and hubby getting frisky at 2am. Luckily the kids don't need me to get up with them. Meagan was ready to leave for school already, Nora had eaten (for some reason they won't let the kindy kids go to the cafeteria for breakfast when they get off the bus, grrr) and everyone was dressed. Got them all out the door with minimal fuss which was good because my brain was not really working yet. Then I got Jack breakfast and cleaned up the house while he was eating. I'm on my 2nd load of laundry, the dishes have been washed and emptied, the floor is mopped and Jack is now napping. If only it was every day, lol. But Nora only has school on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday they get out at 1pm and Thursday my husband has off so he's home to bug me. Things run so smooth and relaxed without the 5 of them here.
+Farscape on the brain. I actually mostly didn't think about it all last night while I wasn't sleeping thanks to said caffeine high. But I did channel all the angst into a little fantasy for my original story I occasionally talk about ("The Story" or Sarah/Tucker whichever I call it at the time). But as I got more sleepy the names kept slipping to Aeryn and John. Hmmm. PKW should be here on Wednesday. YAY!
+Weight loss to date: 29lbs. Booyah! And that was with me going just about completely off track last week. With being sick and stuff I just stopped caring for the most part. I ate when I felt like it and whatever I could find. I stuffed my face with a 10oz burger with all the trimmings (including thick cut bacon) at the diner. I don't even want to think about how much fat was in that, lol. It's so yummy, though, and I've been so good for so long. I even had my first (two) donuts in two months. TWO MONTHS! I didn't buy the bag of chips I wanted, though, so I guess I was a little good. I was resigned to being back up to 245lbs after all that and it didn't bother me. I knew I could easily lose that again and get back on track. But, amazingly, I stepped on the scale yesterday after all that and was 235lbs. That's 3lbs less than the last time I weighed myself. Hmmm. Not sure what I did there but I'm I think I still subconsciously watch what I'm eating. Cool beans. Now if only I could motivate myself to actually exercise. All I know is my favorite pants are no longer fitting. They are way toooooo big and just slide off my hips. Awesome but not so cool when you have nothing smaller and no money to buy new clothes. Where's that belt?
+BETA REQUEST I'm going through my works in progress list, trying to actually finish some stories up. The one I'm working on now is a long one so I tend to like betas for them. It's actually a three (so far) parter with part one finished and betaed already. I'm typing up what I have of part two right now and will need help cleaning that up and figuring out how to end it and what to do with part three. Part one is almost 7700 words. Part two is already 4700 words and I haven't finished typing what I have written and I know that's no where near the end of it. No clue about part three. I don't want to publish any of it until all three are done to make sure I actually finish them all. Any takers? Mostly I need someone to bounce ideas off of (as usual).
+In relation to the beta request (sort of). I could really use a NaNo buddy to bounce ideas off of. I'm writing original sci-fi but I'm planning for the story to be episodic and I really need someone to help me plan out a "season" of stories with overlying arcs and stuff. Just like a TV show would have. Not sure how much I'll actually fit into my NaNo attempt. I'm thinking each "episode" would be like 10-15k words but not sure until I actually write them. And not sure how many stories I want in each season. I think it will depend on the story arc. I plan to devour tvtropes.org for ideas and basically steal ideas from all my favorite sci-fi series. Call it an "homage," lol. Anyone want to help. Not sure I actually plan to publish any of this but I'm sure I'll have fun plotting it all out.

But when I started writing SG-1 I found I wasn't finishing any of my angst-filled pieces so switched to writing more fun, UST, happy ending type stuff. Light on the angst. I'm trying to finish up the really angsty stuff now. I'm so out of the habit I'm having issues, lol.
I love reading angst. The more dramatic and heart-wrenching the better. I love the twisted up feeling I get in my chest when I read it (or write it). I rarely read fluffy stuff. Too much sugar for me, lol. I like my stories dark and agnsty--the kind that tear you apart from the inside out and actually make you cry. The worse my mood the more angst I want. I'm strange.

In M/M slash, even the "clinical" words anus, rectum, sphincter, perineum & prostate get play. I think it depends on the context and the skill of the writer. I love pushing the envelope by seeing if I can use a clinical word in a sexy way. Doesn't always work, which is why beta-readers are vital.
