Star Trek Enterprise

So, I've been rewatching Star Trek Enterprise. I know it's basically heresy to that say not only did I like the show, but it's my favorite incarnation of Star Trek. I'm not ashamed.

Last night I watched one of my all-time favorite episodes: Harbinger. There are so many great scenes, most of all this one:

I replayed this several times last night just to watch Trip's expressions, then to listen to their dialogue and inflections. The faces crack me up. And T'Pol gets all snarky with him. Also: "I'm jealous... of myself?"

It's probably my favorite scene, being a Trip/T'Pol shipper, but there were others. There's one where the two of them are doing some diagnostic or something where she confronts him about his "relationship" with Corporal Cole. She's obviously a little jealous, and Trip's is really playing it up.

Then there's a scene with Trip and Malcolm in the mess when Malcolm asks him about his relationship with Cole, which Trip denies. Malcolm implies there is more going on with the neuro-pressure thing, and Trip stupidly asks if Malcolm thinks there's something going on between him and T'Pol. To which Malcolm replies, "that's the rumor." I know it's kind of dumb, but I was laughing so hard at the whole conversation.

And, of course, there's the epic beat-down Malcolm gives to Major Hayes. Okay, the beat the crap out of each other, but in the middle of it they stop an alien from destroying the ship. At the end Archer gives them a major dressing-down then walks out of the room leaving them at attention. They both stand there for a few seconds before Malcolm asks if that means they're dismissed.

The whole episode is made of awesome.

I owe it to myself to rewatch Enterprise. I've been meaning to do that for a while - I remember enjoying the larger plot arcs of 3&4. I also remember *not* liking the TPol/Trip romance....no reason why, but maybe I'll feel different watching it now (as an adult).

Malcolm and Hoshi were always my favourite. And the dog, whose name I'm blanking on right now hahah.

I've been watching it on Netflix.

I always have to find something to ship, and I like all the angsty, UST, will-they-won't-they couples.

And the dog's name is Porthos. I always felt bad for the dog--stuck on a ship with no other dogs, spending most of his time alone in a tiny room, rarely ever allowed off of the ship. Seems kind of selfish to bring him along.

Ahh, it's not on Canadian Netflix. It's on Crave here in Canada (another streaming service), and I can access it (using my parent's login lol), but I have to watch it through the computer. It's a new service and I'm just waiting for them to make an app for my damn tv or appletv box.

I like having something to ship, but it's not required. Like I don't really have a SG1 ship - Sam/Martouf is the closest...k ya, I ship that pretty hard. But he was in it for so few episodes, my enjoyment of the show was focused on other stuff. It's easier when you ship a main-cast ship. hahah.

PORTHOS! Yesss, that's it. I dunno, dogs are resilient. And most dogs spend their time in their houses alone during the day, and they seem okay with it. Maybe he ran more all over the ship that we saw.

I almost always find a ship to latch on to. Not every show. There have been some recently that I never really got into shipping, but it's pretty rare for me.

I feel bad for dogs that are stuck in their house all day alone. My neighbors in Chicago had a dog, but all three adults in the house worked or were in school from 7am until 7pm. The poor dog was stuck in the basement for 12 (sometimes more) hours every day. Alone. They sometimes left the TV on to keep her company. I prefer cats. They really don't care if you are home, sleep all day anyway, and they are small enough that two of them isn't a big deal--so they can entertain each other.

I think I've seen only 1 or 2 episodes of Enterprise. I'd like to bingewatch the entire ST franchise one of these days. (Except maybe the latest JJ Abrams reboot movie.)

I might rewatch the entire franchise--they have all of the TV shows on Netflix. It's been a really, really long time since I've watched DS9. And I haven't seen all of the Next Generation movies.

I actually like Abrams reboot, but I've always been able to look at individual projects apart from the bigger picture. I've often like movie versions of books, not because I thought they were good interpretations, but for their own merits. I try to be objective. I really like the reboots, though. I found them interesting, if not a little (lot) cheesy.

Eh, I'm gonna pass on seeing the 2nd Abrams movie that ganked its story from Wrath of Khan & whitewashed the lead guest role. It would just make me mad.

I haven't seen TOS in forever; I really adored its scripts & its earnestness.

OMG, the movie was so cheesy with the throwbacks to the originals. I knew exactly what was coming and was falling out of my chair laughing. Which probably wasn't their intent. But I still enjoyed them. Eyerolls and everything.

I haven't watched TOS all the way through since high school. It would come on after school for like 6 hours or something. I set the VCR to record them all and would watch on the weekend. My dad thought I was nuts. He might have actually still had those recordings when he moved.

I just adore William Shatner in any incarnation.

Oh, and the Enterprise episode I'm watching right now sets up the whole backstory of Kahn. Brent Spiner guest stars at Dr. Soong. God, I love Brent Spiner so much.
