reviews

I received THREE reviews on the last story I posted to AO3. That's nearly a record for me. Just one more review, and it'll be tied for most reviews, lol. It also has a record number of bookmarks (7) and is tied for most kudos (40). Of course all of those other stories have been up for years. I'm so used to getting no reviews, I was a little shocked to find something in my inbox.

I'll never understand how people get hundreds of reviews on their stories.

I don't really understand either. I mean, I've been writing for years now and while I do get a decent amount of reviews (on ff.net; Ao3 barely take notice of me), it's nowhere near some people. Like Zach. He posted Mass Effect fic and has an insane number of reviews for it. (It was most definitely going to his head for awhile there.)

Anyway. Congrats on the three reviews. :)

I'm currently reading this really well written story (thankfully) and noticed it had a huge amount of kudos. I checked the header:

Was started almost a year ago, last updated yesterday with 5 of 7 chapters completed at over 10k words. It has 1200+ kudos and 186 comments. I just can't even. I'd be throwing a party if I got more than 10 comments, lol.

Wow, that's pretty insane. I'd be happy if I got more than 10 comments as well.

Seems so random with comment numbers and quality sometimes, though. I've seen really badly written fic with insane numbers of comments just as often as well-written ones.

Congrats on three! For me, mine seem to accumulate over time but still not that many. My post popular fic is The Fundamental Theorem of Samantha Carter. It has 17 comments and I'm pretty sure close to half is me replying to comments HAHAHA. I accumulated a good bit on FF.net for a while until I pulled my stories from there for a good year or so. I reposted some but they don't get the viewing they used to. Probably because all my stories are for fandoms that have been quiet for some time. I don't venture into new fandoms. They scare me. I prefer to wait until it's a ghost town.

Well, if we're including my return comments then the story has 6!

This is the first time I've participated in an active fandom in the sense that the show is still currently airing. All of my other fandoms have been off the air for a while. It's definitely a different experience. I learned pretty quick to just write and stay away from discussions and fan sites--too much drama and shipper wars. I'm too old for that shit.
