There was a time, way back when, when I thought country musicians was a bunch of whiney cry-babies. I laugh now thinking about that. Oh how I hated it when the only alternative station in Kirksville went country. But after I met Patrick I got hooked. You do a lot of crazy things for the people you love.

It's the songs, though, that really got me hooked. When I finally listened to the lyrics--they spoke to me. They were all about regular people trying to deal with regular issues. It is pretty much all I listen to now (along with the occasional Disco night, teehee). I've got a country station streaming online right now since Patrick took our streo when he moved. Big and Rich is on now.

My fondest memories are of me and Patrick speeding down a dirt road, dust kicking up, Garth Brooks blasting on the radio, windows down--hair blowing. Those were great times. Nothing more country then a black pickup truck and Garth Brooks. God, I loved driving around the back roads of Adair County. I'm going to miss that. It will be a long time before we will go back there. It is 300+ miles from Chicago (that's an 8 hour drive with the kids), Pittsburg is 500 miles from Chicago, in the other direction. It's painful to think about. I really would have loved for the kids to grow up near their cousins. I was 4 hours away from my cousins and I wish I knew them better. They are all such good friends.

I'm getting nervous about the move. Patrick is coming on Sunday and we pick up the U-haul on Monday. Tomorrow is Patrick's birthday--the big 29,lol. We have a birthday party to go to tomorrow, too for Meagan's friend Brooke. Too many June birthdays. Dad got Meagan a bike for her birthday. And he fixed up Ryan's old bike for Owen. Owen is all worried about breaking it. I told him if it could survive Uncle Ryan then there probably wasn't much Owen could do to break it, but I wouldn't put it past him. That boy can destroy anything.

on another note:
I didn't do any writing today and I feel bad. I wrote every day for two weeks straigh--that has to be a record for me but today...I just didn't feel like it. My mind is so full of ideas I can't get any of them straight. Plus with the move coming up...I am so stressed. I'll probably start writing again after we get settled but then I won't be able to post anything here anymore, not for awhile anyway. Oh well.

I better get to bed. The kids were up at around 6:30 this morning and were banging on my door at 7. Ugh. I did get to bed by 11 last night but I was still tired. A couple weeks worth of 5 hour night will do that to a person.
