talk about a self-esteem boost
17 Apr 2008 03:28 pmSo I had just picked Brenna up from school. Hubby had to go get his blood work and the spare tire on my van is going flat. I had 2 choices--fill the tire or put Nora in the stroller and walk. Considering it is like 65 degrees outside we decided to walk.
So we leave the school and we see this man walking a cute little lab puppy. Of course the girls go crazy (they both LOVE dogs). We were admiring the puppy (probably about 8 months old) as it got closer and hadn't even paid any attention to the man. He passed us, tugging his puppy along (she really wanted to stay and be petted by the kids, I think).
We were talking about how our puppies (that we used to have) would look like that except they would be dark brown when all of a sudden he calls back to me. He says, "hey, those streaks in your hair...they look really cool."
I can't remember the last time I blushed like that from a pure, unadulterated compliment from a stranger and a damn fine looking one at that, because, let me tell you, he was so cute.
I just said thank you with a little smile on my face and kept going. If I hadn't had to 2 kids with me I would have been sure he was flirting, lol. Okay so maybe he was just being nice but it sure felt good. I mean, my husband tells me I'm beautiful everyday but it always seems to mean something else when someone you aren't married to says it. I'm such a dork.
Anyway, it really gave a nice boost to my self-esteem, brightened my day and reaffirmed my stance on not coloring my hair to hide my gray streaks...because they really are cool. :)
