frustrated with story
12 Jan 2011 02:05 pmOkay, so I'm working on this story. I've been working on it a couple of weeks off an on. It's supposed to be a prequel to a little drabble I wrote awhile ago. The drabble is just a scene where Jack asks why they don't go to tropical planets and Sam mentions one they went to that ended "badly" for the guys. I knew I just HAD to write that planet.
Problem is I've started it three times and none of them is just right. It's driving me nuts. I now have three versions of this story. I've decided the second one is good. I really like where it's going except it's not turning out to be the prequel. It's much too elaborate but I've fallen in love with the alien culture I created so I'm going to have to actually make it a full blown adventure story now.
The 2nd one started out okay but quickly spiraled out of control and just doesn't work. So, now I'm on to version four which I hope I can keep on track to be the prequel. This story is driving me nuts. I suck at writing fluffy nonsense. It always wants to turn into angst or drama or something really long, lol.
It's not the only story I'm working on either. I have two other stories I've kind of started (because I can't focus unless I can just write whatever whenever...if I only have 1 story going I get bored/frustrated and give up) plus I have the monster NaNo story that I'm still working on that is calling me to get my butt back in gear and put some more chapters down.
I've been doing a lot of reading, though. I got my eReader last week and I've uploaded so much fanfiction to it I didn't even know where to start. Luckily there is a tag for last update (I guess from fanfic.net when I used the downloader) so I've started at the earliest date and I'm just going from there. So much to read, so little time. But that makes me want to write. My head is swirling with ideas and this one damn story is driving me bonkers.
And then the kids had a "snow day" today (even though we didn't get any snow but the hills around us did so they closed school) so they are driving me up a wall. ARGH.
