Just got accused of "bashing" Sam on ff.net for my story "Concerning Command".  oooookay.

I'm assuming that's because I didn't make her to be this take charge of everything, nothing can get her down super woman or something.  God forbid she has flaws.

I, personally, don't bash characters.  I love them all, even the bad guys or the annoying characters.  My alt!Sam happens to be a little insecure in her command at the moment.  She doesn't have all the experiences our Sam has and she didn't get to shadow Jack for 7 years before taking command.  She was tossed in green and a little clueless more for publicity than anything else.  She's learning and, unfortunately, froze up on her first mission.  Knowing Sam (since she isn't all that different from our own) she isn't going to let that happen again.  I doubt Jack had it all together his first big command, either.

Anyway...some people take stuff way too seriously.  It's a freaking TV show.  And it's just a story.  Geesh.  Of course the person didn't leave their comment with a ff.net account so I can't reply back.

I'm still writing story #5 and their on another mission and she recently got captured.  Jack and Kawalsky are back on Earth itching to mount a rescue mission.  Daniel is stranded, alone and unsure what to do (it's his first mission) and Sam is captured with a horrible concussion but she's not sitting around waiting to be rescued.  In the storyline they gang has been on several missions and she's already getting the hang of command and has Jack sort of listening to her.

Sometimes when I'm writing I start think "that would never happen" or Sam/Jack/Daniel "wouldn't do that" and then I remind myself that things are different for them.  They've had different experiences that shaped them.  Sam is a great character...a roll model for girls everywhere.  She's strong and self-assured and smart.  But even on the show she wasn't infallible.

And all you have to do is read some of my other stories to see I'm not a Sam basher.

Oh well.  Guess you can't please everyone.  I've had many good reviews so...

The weather was gorgeous today in SW Washington.  I think our high got near 70F and it was sunny.  All the kids in the neighborhood were out in shorts, sun dresses, flip-flops drawing with chalk in the street (yes, street...the only traffic on our loop are people that live here).

It was so nice my older son, Owen, asked to take the baby, Jack, outside.  I was like, "knock yourself out."  But I wasn't sure how Jack would take to the grass in our yard.  My other kids HATED grass their first time out.  I got him dressed and Owen took him into the sunny backyard to explore.
