jennickels: (sg1: naptime)
OMG, I'm tired. I'm not going to make it through the day without a nap.  Need sleep.  My brain isn't even functioning this morning.  I don't think.

Tuesday went to bed at 2am, up at 6:50am.  No naps all day.
Wednesday tried to go to bed at midnight but the baby woke up screaming.  Spent an hour calming him down.  In bed at 1am, up at 6:30am.
Last night tried to get to bed at 11pm but got sidetracked with stuff and didn't get into bed until midnight.  Woke at 6am, worrying about missing the alarm.  Up at 6:30am.

This this pain right between my eyes.  ugh.

And my husband... snoring soundly.  On Tuesday he was up at 3:30am for work.  Took a nap from 3pm-5pm.  In bed at 11pm.
Wednesday he got up at 7:30am (so he could walk with us to the bus stop on Nora's first day).  Took a short nap during the day, in bed at 9pm.
It's now after 7am and he's still sleeping.

And now all my fingers are itching.  Like seriously itching and driving me nuts.  What's up with that?  I didn't touch anything that would cause an allergic reaction and make my fingers (just my fingers, mostly on my fingertips) itch.  So it must be in my head, right?  See, I'm losing it from lack of sleep.

OK, hubby is up now with the baby.  The 11yo is almost ready to leave for school.  The other girls are getting their room cleaned, Owen is working on "not homework".  They don't leave until a little after 8am.  It's currently 7:18am here.

So, is it naptime yet?

If anyone cares to know, the saga of Brenna's ears continues.

Last we heard she had some kind of fiber imbedded in her ear while it was pierced.  When changing earrings for the first time said fiber was pulled out causing much bleeding and drama.

Our story picks up a couple weeks later...

Brenna came home from school today and said her ear felt "fat" and would I look at it.  She didn't say it hurt just that it felt weird.  I take one look and all I can think is, "what else can possibly go wrong for this kid?"  I could see right off that her lobe was swelled up and starting to grow around the head of her earring.  Sure enough the back was on too tight.  I figured I'd loosen it up and it would heal on it's own.

Unfortunately she had let it go too long.  I pulled the back off the earring and there was a huge glob of dried blood (ick).  I pulled the earring out after that and there was a lot of blood.  She had blood blisters on both ends of her ear and it just kept gushing with every little touch.

It took thirty minutes to clean it up and get the bleeding to stop (blisters to go away).  Her other ear looked fine so I changed the earring back to her original ones.  We decided to see if we could just put her old one back in the messed up ear.  It went right in with no pain and she soaked it in salt water for awhile.

An hour later, though, she came back and wanted me to check it.  It's not infected (that I can see) but it's injured enough that it's all swelled up.  It was swelling around her earring already and pushing against the back.  There was already blood oozing out so we just took it out.  There's nothing else we can do but let it close up and hope it doesn't get infected in the mean time.  She'll have to get it repierced later on.  She's keeping her other earring in, though, to keep the hole open.

Poor kid.  Between all her issues with that ear and falling off her bike (her knee is almost healed, though, and she's graduated to just using bandaids on it)...  She just can't seem to catch a break.  Fingers crossed her lobe doesn't get all infected (with her luck, though...)
