NaNo is a bust but...
26 Nov 2011 10:43 pmI've been doing a little more writing the last week or so. And a lot the last couple days. I've just suddenly been inspired and it's almost like it was at the beginning of the year where I was churning out a few stories a night sometimes.
So, since I gave up on NaNo after the first day (to save my sanity...and I don't mean that metaphorically) I decided the month wasn't a completely fail. I added up all the "creative" words I've written since November first and my total is (including the little bit of NaNo I wrote):
12496
Just in the last week and half it was 11329 words. Not bad. A little over 10k words in 10 or 11 days.
Today, alone, I wrote 5156 words in two different stories. One is finished and waiting to be edited, the other was supposed to be short but it's already over 2000 words long and I'm not sure where it's going. I was writing from a prompt and thought I knew what was going to happen but as I wrote it just went off in another direction so I think I'll go with it and redo the prompt with something else. Something shorter, lol.
There's still four more days of the month. I wonder how many more words I can get out before then?
Maybe next year I need to really challenge myself for NaNo. I've done the whole novel length story and won three times. I know I can write a bunch of shorter fics that total 50k words fairly easily. So, how about, I endeavor to write 500 drabbles.
Yeah, I didn't think so either. Maybe 50 one thousand word stories. Or five 10k word stories. That would be easy. I'm not even sure how I'd organize 50 stories or 500 drabbles, lol. That would be crazy. That's like 17 drabbles a day. It takes me forever to write just one.
I must need sleep because I'm starting to scare myself, lol. I think next year I'll start actually plotting out my novel ahead of time so I know what the hell I'm doing. Hopefully some really good fanfic will come to mind in July or something and I'll save it for November.
Anyway, I'm now just going to see how many words I can get written by the end of the month. Based on what I've written the last couple of days I could easily write another 10k. Maybe more. We'll see.
