preview of chapter 5
26 Apr 2012 12:07 pmActually got some writing done yesterday despite the crazy of having the kids around. Well, they did disappear outside for awhile and took Jack with them so there were some moments of quiet. Unfortunately my eyes are not liking the computer any more. Not sure if it's my eyes in general or they're still trying to adjust to my new glasses (bifocals this time... feeling old). I had the worst migraine when I finally gave up and went to bed last night. And this morning my eyes are still hurting. I've adjusted the brightness and contrast to try and help but... don't know. Anyway, I'm working on chapter 8 now and the story is around 9700 words.

Now he was begging her to call out, do anything to help him find her. She hated to admit that her regular, stoic, military persona had long since been replaced by a sheer terror that gripped her from the bottom of her toes through the tips of every hair on her body. She was losing feeling in all her limbs, breathing was harder and harder with every breath. Panic had long since overtaken her waking moments.
That was another problem. She kept fading out only to be woken by the colonel's voice next to her ear. For a second she'd feel that elation thinking he was there only to realize it was just her radio. The effort to hit the talk button with her cheek was all she could manage. She didn't think she had enough strength to say a single word. And then the darkness would overcome her again.
