Camp NaNoWriMo
30 May 2012 09:12 pmSo, completely forgot about Camp NaNo. After completely failing NaNo last year I decided it might be better to try one of the Camps because November is a stressful time of year for me (Brenna's birthday, Thanksgiving, my mom's birthday which just leaves me depressed and missing her, plus I ALWAYS get sick). June's busy (lots of birthdays, Father's Day, end of school stuff, start of summer) but I'm usually in a better mood and more resilient with the nice weather.
Of course June starts in two days. That's not much time to prepare.
BUT this morning I had an idea for a silly sci-fi story pop into my head. Since then it's kind of solidified a little, more details and plot lines becoming clear.
So, the question is should I spend the next two nights kind of brainstorming and try to start writing on the 1st or do I wait until August which might be busier with the end of summer, getting school supplies, last minute road trips. Not to mention the heat. Contrary to popular belief it doesn't always rain in the Pacific Northwest. In fact, last year we had a heat wave that started the first week of July and lasted until mid-August. During that time there were very few days it was below 90F with many nearing 100F. And not a drop of rain the entire time. We don't have air conditioning so it really, really, really sucks. June, though, is usually a comfortable mid-70s most of the month.
So... what do you think?
