"Carter, please answer." Her heart nearly broke at the desperation in his voice. The squeezing around her chest had nothing to do with the crushing rocks above her. And apparently butterflies were taking up residence in her stomach, she felt the flutters and flips as the colonel's words repeated over and over in her head. How could that man make her feel that with just three words? She mentally berated her mutinous body but the anger quickly subsided as the blackness called to her again.
