I really hate when everything is scheduled like everyone in the world works 9-5 monday thru friday. We can never do anything because fun stuff for kids are always scheduled on weekends. Well dh works weekends (11am-8pm) and he has the only car.
And this I just don't get. March 27th is parent/teacher confrences (it's a Monday). You have to call/e-mail the teacher to set up a time. You can schedule a meeting between 8:30am and 3:15pm. HUH? aren't most people at work during those times? Of course dh works on mondays. We missed the last one for the same reason. I have never met Meagan's teacher and the school year is almost over. I guess i will meet her at Kindergarten graduation in June--which dh will have to take time off of work to go to because it will always be scheduled on a day he works.
I don't have my own car so I can't just take the kids and go to the meeting. And I can't walk (ironic, I guess after my last post) because the school is a couple miles away on top of this huge hill. The kids would throw a fit half way there, not to mention I can barely walk through the house without a ton of pain in my hips and by the time of the confrence I will be 38 weeks pregnant.
So either dh has to take the day off and lose pay, trade with someone and work a double sometimes that week, or use one of his vacation days, taking away from the time he can stay home with me and the baby in April. Or we miss it. I really wanted to meet Meagan's teacher and see her class room.
I just hate that they think all the parents are available during the weekends and stuff. They sent home registration for T-ball a couple weeks ago. Then one of Meagan's classmates sent home a note asking everyone to join in so they can have a complete team. Meagan really wants to do it but the games and practices are on weekends and I won't have the car. Also parents must work the concession stand once during the season. So what am I supposed to do with my other 3 kids while I do this? The town park is right down the street but I don't know if all games/practices are at this field. If they are she could play, but otherwise I can't get to the games if they are somewhere else. It's too late now anyway. Registration was during the weekends in February. Maybe next year. Both her and Owen will be old enough for T-ball then.
Oh and yesterday she brought home a note about Kindergarten registration for next year. Owen misses the cutoff by one day so I guess he won't be going. I don't think he is ready. But the thing that got me--The note came home Feb. 27 and the packet of info had to be complete and returned by Mar. 6 or something. Geeze. I think that includes the physical, too. What the heck do they want us to do? Just drop everything and expect to get into the doctors at the drop of the hat in the middle of flu season. These people are nuts.
