Not to highlight my craziness or anything but...

Here's a new writing landcomm.  No, I'm not joining it, exactly.  I actually co-own it and we're kicking things off on December 1st (yes, I've been helping set up and plan this while having a nervous breakdown and it's the only thing that kept me sane at one point).

Anyway

Do you like to write?  Want a landcomm that gets rid of those pesky graphic challenges and focuses only on writing?  No matter what kind of writing you like to do?  Do you like fanfic? original fic? poetry? screenwriting? whatever?  We have it.  Want to learn about writing and hone your own skills?  We have that, too.  Sound interesting?  Then come on over to [livejournal.com profile] writerverseand check things out.

We're now open for new members to join but team assignments won't be happening until the end of the month.  Challenges start December 1st because my lovely co-owner (and a few of our mods) are happily pounding away at their keyboards for NaNoWriMo (I've basically dropped out now to save what little bit of sanity I have left).

This is a writing comm for everyone, of every skill level...fanfic writers of every kind...slash and shippy are welcome...crack is welcome...original fic is no problem...like to write epic poems...awesome...wanna write a song about your favorite movie couple...go ahead...want some creative criticism on a piece...we'll be there to give it a look...want to just do the challenges and be left alone...we could probably handle that, too.  Like I said, there's something for everyone.  Short fic, long fic, haiku, screenplays, essays, bookclub (possibly starting in the social comm), games...lots of fun.

[come on, you know you want to]

Wait...a minute...when did I end up creating a comm??? LOL >.<

Great blurb btw :) (And thanks for being social director in the bookclub. I've been sorting, pointing, and approving everyone and I was like "OH NO I HAZ to SAY SOMETHING IN BOOKCLUB" but you saved me.

I kind of figured you'd be busy with all that and I remember being new to stargateland and feeling lost with no intro post around because everyone already knew each other. Figured I'd get the ball rolling. I'll plan a friending meme for after we get started. Maybe some other stuff and maybe one of the other mods or someone else will want to take over as social director later on.

Well it does sounds interesting... ...

Um... Okay. I have to ask. What the heck is a landcomm!?! :) I get that there are teams who are supposed to be writing something, but what are the teams expected to write? Is it collaborative effort or individual projects? Please excuse my ignorance, but I have no clue how this works.

I may go ahead and join, but it's looking like a good possibility that if I do, I may need some hand holding until I figure out what's what and who does what and when and how....

So tell me please. What is a landcomm?

It's okay. I was new at this earlier this year. [livejournal.com profile] stargateland was the first landcomm I ever joined. That was back in the spring and I had no idea what was going on really.

What we have at [livejournal.com profile] writerverse is 2 (for the moment) teams. As an owner I'm not on a team, I root for them all and if I participate in a challenge my points go to whichever team got the lowest points for that challenge (takes the pressure off of me so I like that). Anyway, every few days or so we'll put out another challenge. We've opened up this comm to every kind of creative writing and we're hoping people will not only do challenges they are comfortable with (ie fanfic) but try something new (like haiku or screenplays). Most challenges will be open to any kind of writing with a theme or prompt to write from in whatever medium the person chooses but others are going to be specific to something, like poetry.

And I'm sure at least one challenge will be a group effort. We started out as [livejournal.com profile] fictionland but the owner went off to college so we moved on (with her blessings eventually) and we did a team round robin kind of challenge but instead of continuing the story with each person (since we all wrote different fandoms or original fic) we had to choose a line from the previous story and use it in ours. All were drabbles. I got 14 pretty good little fics out of that.

Seriously, you should come over. You only have to do like 1 challenge every 2 weeks to stay active. We, obviously, encourage more but we understand we are all real people living in the real world and not everyone can sit at a computer all hours of the day, lol. I mean, if you later decide you don't want to do it you can always leave. We won't have any hard feelings. I swear. We just want everyone to have fun and, hopefully, learn something about writing.

Sounds awesome but I gave up land comms ages ago and have sworn never to go back. So... instead, best of luck with it. :)
