Another Sarah story.  This one takes place years after Not Supposed To Be.  Another writerverse drabble entry for the prompt: like in the movies.

Sarah has chosen her life but it's nothing like she remembers from the movies of her childhood. It's a hard lesson to learn.

Sarah blames Hollywood for her current predicament. They're the ones that set her up for this eventual downfall. Her failure. All those movies selling the "American Dream." Whatever that is. Two-point-three kids? A dog? White picket fence in the suburbs? Who knows any more.

Hollywood can go to hell. Things are never like in the movies. The timer on the bomb doesn't stop at one second, saving the city. The good guys don't always win and the bad guys don't wear black hats. Prince Charming doesn't ride in on a white steed to rescue the princess. He's more apt to be a jackass that's looking out for his own dick than anything.

Sarah stares at her reflection in the mirror, dabbing a little more concealer on the blossoming red splotch across her cheek. She wills herself not to cry. There's no point. This is her life, the one she chose. Damn Hollywood. And damn men. And the world.

There's no point in crying because it won't change anything.

And it will ruin the make-up.
