I needed a laugh and remembered this song from my childhood.  My dad has a twisted sense of humor so Bob Rivers Twisted Christmas was an instant classic in our house--played every year (don't think my mom much cared for it, though).  This was my favorite song on the CD.  These guys do a pretty funny interpretation of the song.

I relate so much to the poor schmuck and the lights.  From about the time I was 15 it was my job to put the lights on the tree (and anywhere else I wanted them without killing myself--my dad fell off the ladder breaking his wrist and arm in several places putting up Christmas lights).  It's such a freaking pain.  Although I have few issues with them getting tangled because I put them back neatly when I take them down.  I can't remember ever having to detangle lights.  I'm that good.  But it never fails, every year at least half the tree goes dark with the lights going wonky.  Makes me want to pull my hair out.  Or chuck the whole damn tree out the window.

The kids are watching this show called Shake It Up on Disney.  It is one of the weirdest shows I've seen.  It's about these two girls, Cici and Rocky who run around Chicago and get on this live dance show (Shake It Up Chicago).  It's crazy weird because I don't think dance shows exist any more and the way these kids dress is way off the wall.  My kids grew up in Chicago and don't know anyone that dressed like these kids (although they sell clothes at Target based on this show now).

The thing that cracks me up the most is they go to public school but all the public schools in Chicago have uniforms (navy pants/skirts/jumpers and white collared shirts).  There is no way this school is in Chicago.  It's so dumb.

I do like that the girls, who are supposed to be around 12 years old, are allowed to run all over the place including sneaking off to this studio to get on the show.  It's nice to see kids that don't have mom hovering over them (the one girl's mom is a cop, I think).  Everyone on this show is so over the top and unbelievable.

I'd rather watch iCarly.  Actually the Nick shows are usually much more entertaining than the ones on Disney.  And why does every star on Disney have to also sing?  Seriously.
