I hate November
3 Nov 2012 12:08 pmI swear, if it's going to go wrong, it will happen in November. It's like the month just hates me.
It's only the 3rd and I'm exhausted already, wondering if I'll be able to keep up with NaNo (doing better than last year so far).
I saw Nora (my 6yo) scratching her head last night. Real hard. Yep, lice AGAIN! This is the third time. I don't know if it's our fault for not being diligent with retreating or they just keep picking it up from their friends. All three girls have it which means I get to spend the rest of the day dealing with their hair (now I know why my husband's niece just shaved all her girls' heads... ugh). The boys didn't have it, though. Although they are easy to treat (we shaved their heads last time) I just don't want to do it.
On top of that our screwy freezer needed to be defrosted. We now have to do it every week. It's a pain in the ass but Patrick took care of it this morning. He's also been dealing with all the laundry that results from a lice outbreak. I'm been sitting here nursing a migraine. I've been getting them a lot lately. Woke up today and yesterday with them thanks to the kids barging into my room before I woke up. The door crashing open was enough of a trigger. This one isn't too bad, I've had worse.
I so don't want to be doing this hair crap but I can't trust Patrick to do it correctly so it's all on me. It takes almost an hour just to wash Meagan's hair because it's long and thick. Nora's is the easiest because her hair is so fine. Washing their hair (at the kitchen sink) kills my back to the point I can barely move. Oh, and my shoulder is hurting again.
What I want is to go crawl back into bed and sleep until dinner time.
Not gonna happen.
Also, Brenna has dislocated two of her fingers over the last couple weeks. The first one was a while ago. I forget how she hurt it but her friend's mom works in a doctor's office and she was pretty sure it was dislocated. Then the other day she fell off the swingset at another friend's house and sprain the exact same finger ON THE OTHER HAND. Only Brenna. They look really bad so Patrick finally made an appointment for her. And Owen (for the bed wetting). They go on Monday.
And in redneck news... my sister-in-law called Patrick in tears a little while ago because her oldest son, James, just got arrested for stabbing his best friend in the neck with a box cutter. He's 19 (20 in January) and a meth addict and a complete dumbass. He's going to end up in prison just like his biological father who he hates because he was in jail all of James' childhood.
My my sil wonders why I don't want to move closer to them, that's not the kind of influence I want around my kids. Oh, and she was the one lecturing me on being a "good parent" because she found my parenting lacking while we were visiting in 2010. Why? Because I made the kids take showers, observe a reasonable bedtime while on vacation, wouldn't let them gorge on cake and soda for breakfast, made them eat veggies with their dinner. Yet her kids are constantly in trouble with their schools and the law. Now she's all, "woe is me," because her son is going to go to jail. Sigh.
