My 10yo daughter Brenna is bringing back a trend from the 70s. And I bet she totally succeeds in our neighborhood.

She's introducing Pet Rocks.

That's George. Isn't he cute?

Someone gave her this really cool rock and she was pretending it was like a baby which was really funny, and really a Brenna-thing to do. When I saw it I just pictured this face on it so she let me draw it on and George was born.

I had to do the whole Loony Tunes thing (although paraphrased)...I will love him and hug him and call him George. I was just joking around but she immediately started calling him George.

Anyway, now her and Meagan are fighting over this rock (which slept in my room last night for it's own protection) and I can picture the other kids finding big rocks like this so I can draw faces on them. Then their friends will see them and want one.

And it will be a thing again.

All thanks to Brenna, age 10.

EDIT:
I knew this would be a thing. Nora now has her own pet rock. And the girls' friend, Grace (11), just made one for herself. She said, "I decided I need more friends."

Told you.

I went through and numbered all my written scenes on Scrivener from 1z (so I would remember it was from Zoe's POV) to 136z. When I came up with a new scene but didn't know where it would go I called it A. A subsequent scene following that one was A1. Then I started writing from Colby's POV and named that scene 4c because it was going to be a replacement for 4z. When I wrote a completely new scene from Zoe's POV to replace the one I wrote before I called it B. The scene I just worked on was actually recycled from one I wrote way later in the book.

My chapter/scene list now looks like this:
CHAPTER 1
-1z
-3z (2 was combined with 1)

CHAPTER 2
-6c
-5c (tossed 4c and rewrote it as 6c)

CHAPTER 3
-B

CHAPTER 4
-7c

CHAPTER 5
-12z (reworked chapter)

CHAPTER 6
-8c
-9c

CHAPTER 7
-59z
-C

For some reason this whole stupid naming scheme just cracks me up. It's so random if you just glance at it (makes perfect sense to me, though). Coming up it's going to be like Ch. 8: 10c, 11c; ch. 9: D, D1; ch. 10: 12c; ch. 11: E; ch. 12: 13c (probably) and then finally ch. 13: A, A1.

I told you it's stupid.

Forgot to mention what happened:
Brenna entered this contest to create a healthy salad. She chose to do a fruit salad. I suggested some ideas but she came up with it on her own: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, kiwi, pineapple and grapes mixed with vanilla yogurt and topped with granola. Her entry was a district finalist. She had to go to the high school and prepare her dish in front of the judges then make up little test cups.
She won "most kid friendly". She said everyone got a medal, though (I think there were as many categories of winners and number of kids participating). She also got to pick a prize. She got a cookbook with kid friendly recipes that looks like it will be fun for the kids.
I'm so proud of her.
