Stargate SG-1 rewatch

So I'm rewatching SG-1 out of boredom. I'm on the 2nd episode. Anyway some things I've noticed:

First Commandment:

- They tried a little too hard to be serious in the first couple of episodes and it just feels fake and off now that I've watched the show for awhile.
- Kawalsky goes back and forth between being a major and captain for the entire pilot. He wears captains bars in the first scene. Then later they call him major and eventually has the major's oak leaves. But in another scene later on he is called captain. I was cracking up. Make up your freaking mind. And that's a pretty big screw up for a major production.
- Carter is just kind of annoying in the first few episodes. She seems so stiff. And Daniel sounds pretentious. I don't think it was until the 3rd or 4th episode where they started to really find themselves.
- "If you die... can I have your stereo?"--Is there anything cuter than Jack being a smart ass?
- So sad Kawalsky had to die. The alternate reality series I'm writing has him on SG-1. Not sure if I'll eventually kill him off. I was thinking of giving him his own team eventually. Poor guy is always dying.
- haha...the scene in Hammond's office at the end of Enemy Within: Hammond hands the phone to Kennedy and then shoves Jack out of the room with a smirk on his face.

- the scene with Carter in the blue dress and all the guys staring...classic. LOVE Jack's expression. What did I say about him being cute when he's being a smart ass?
- Daniel is still calling Carter "doctor", lol

- SG-1 is functioning more as a team now which is all kinds of fun
- Jack and Daniel fighting over Carter: gold--"She tried to seduce me."..."You poor man." LOL
- Okay...why does Daniel have a blanket just hanging off the back of his pack and why such a ginormous pack for a quick trip to draw blood? When did they start carrying the smaller packs that attack to the vests?
- Teal'c has acclimated pretty easily so far. He doesn't always understand the slang but he catches on to everything else pretty fast.
- The end scene is great, too. Love to watch Jack and Sam flirt.

- "I guess I always had a soft spot for the lunatic fringe." Cut to close up of Jack.--cracking me up.

- And Jack with the floppy hat...just lends to the cuteness. You can't help but look cute in a floppy hat. My son wants one.

Date: 20 Apr 2011 10:21 am (UTC)That insignia error with Kawalsky drove me nuts but it was early days and the Air Force wasn't as involved with them at first. It happens later on in the series with Jack after he gets promoted to Major General. He goes back and forth with having one and two stars on his collar.
I always get people to watch the movie version of the first two episodes; it's much better than the pilot. I know Amanda still cringes about the first few episodes. She was very unhappy with the outfit she had to wear for the locker room scene in "The Broca Divide". That happens with a predominately male writing staff although "Emancipation" was written by a woman. It always takes actors a while to settle into their characters and Michael, Amanda and Chris were so young then. I actually thought Michael did a creditable job of channeling James Spader and Rick purposely made Jack different. Once we got Peter DeLuise, Martin Wood and Andy Mikita doing most of the directing, things settled down.
I still miss Kowalsky!!

Date: 20 Apr 2011 03:02 pm (UTC)I don't have the separate Children of the Gods DVD so I have to watch what came with my series collection which includes the full frontal nudity which means my son, who loves Stargate, doesn't watch (not that he would...he would have a conniption fit if he saw a naked girl).
They were remarkably young that first season, weren't they. I was watching Sanctuary the other day and thinking, god Amanda Tapping doesn't even seem like the same person from season one of SG-1. Heck, I had to remind myself that she was Sam Carter, lol.
