21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

I started one.  I wrote Homecoming in May/June 2005.  When I did NaNo that year (my first year) I decided to write a sequel to it.  It went good until I wrote myself into a corner and I never finished it.  It had good reviews but I took it down since it's been years and I can't seem to finish it.

Other than that I haven't written any major sequels.  I have a couple stories I continued in a separate story.  I guess those are sequels although in my head sequels are slightly different but I don't think I could actually articulate that difference, lol.

my muse...

Has flown the coop.

I think it went on vacation or something because I just can't concentrate on writing and have zero inspiration.

:(

Bad news when all my landcomms are back up and running.  I have 10 "song" drabbles due for [livejournal.com profile] fictionland on July 13. Five "gifts" for the first challenge of phase 5 at [livejournal.com profile] stargateland on July 22.  1000 word apoca!fic for the [livejournal.com profile] sg1friendathon  due July 31.  This big prompt table for fictionland due on August 20 with each story having to be at least 1000 words so 15k in total.  [livejournal.com profile] one_prompt  is due at the end of August.  [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang  is due September 25 with 25k words (although I think there is an August date to have 9k words done or something).  On top of that one of the first challenges of the new phase at [livejournal.com profile] scifiland  is a big bang but only 10k words.

That's how many words I have to write before the end of September?  Not including other challenges that pop up.

This is all really frustrating to me because I have this urge to write but no words come out.  I can't even come up with story ideas any more.  At least nothing complicated.  It's not helping that the kids are on summer break and are "bored" ALL THE TIME.  Or it's too hot (at 75F) or too cold (like today at 63F).  Then their friends were on vacation so there was no one to play with.  Next week is the baby's birthday and my husband has off Monday-Thursday.  That means I'll get nothing done because the house is never quiet when he's home (he's either watching TV, playing video games or listening to music with no concern with what the rest of us want to do).  Plus my brother is on vacation next week so he wants to come visit and we might go to the coast.  Busy, busy, busy.

On one hand I like that I have so many little challenges to inspire me but on the other it's becoming overwhelming.  I need to thin things out some, lol.  I did finish one challenge last night (well I guess 1/2 of it since we could do it twice for points... I'm just happy I got one done).

Now if only I could wrangle my muse back in.
