So, our last challenge for phase 7 at [livejournal.com profile] stargateland (*sniffles*) is to write a Mary Sue story.  Funny, but I put this challenge on my list of things to do at [livejournal.com profile] writerverse way back in December, I think.  Great minds think alike.

Of course all we needed was 100 words.  But this is me so I ended up with 1000 words.  The story just kind of took off and I went with it.  Actually I wanted to keep writing more but cut myself off.  It's a "younger" version of me, before kids and all the crazy that is my current life.  But it's me under there somewhere.  Although I'm not very Mary Sue-ish.  But whatever.

This was fun to write.

Last thing I remember is standing in line at the grocery store. And then I wasn't. Instead I found myself staring out a window looking down on Earth surrounded by a bunch of strangers.

don't own... wish I did, but I don't. No infringement intended.

I'm not sure why I'm here. It's not like I have any fantastic skill or talent. I'm just... me. But I'm here now. Last thing I remember is standing in line at the grocery store. And then I wasn't. Instead I found myself staring out a window looking down on Earth surrounded by a bunch of strangers.

Oh, dear lord, I hit one of those writing grooves.  So nice.  Can't I stay here forever?  No, you say.  Well, boo!

Anyway, besides the little Mary Sue (little being figurative) fic I posted earlier I've managed to finish two others.  Both Sam/Jack stories, both for a [livejournal.com profile] writerverse challenge and both turning out way longer than planned.  As usual.  I still have to edit before I can post but here's some sneak peeks...

Back in Action:
He's making his way down the hallway, intent on not limping when there's another knock. Louder this time. "I'm coming," he grumbles under his breath.

Carter's on the other side of the door, suddenly looking sheepish. Jack eyes her then moves out of the way so she can come in.

"I brought donuts," she says brightly, covering her obvious discomfort.

"Jelly?"

Homecoming:
It doesn't really help that he's kept his promise. Daniel nods that they're clear to go through. He stumbles ahead followed by the two injured members of SG-3. And then it's their turn. Jack braces himself, lips set in a thin line. They start forward as his eyes slide down to the stretcher.

I asked Brenna why she forgot her book (The Hunger Games) when she went to school.  She looked all sad and said her teacher told her she couldn't read it because it wasn't a "good" book.

WTF?

Who is the teacher to tell her what she can and can't read?  She should be happy that Brenna is not only reading but challenging herself.  Hunger Games is WAY above her regular reading level (she's in 3rd grade).  I'm so proud of her.  She's on page 82 or something and is now telling me I can't discuss the book with Meagan because we keep spoiling it for her, lol.

I wonder what her teacher thinks about her reading The Walking Dead comics.  She's on book 3 or 4 now.  Owen is on book 5.

She probably thinks I'm a horrible mother for letting them read inappropriate books.
