holy hell, batman... am I sore
21 Apr 2012 05:23 pmMy house looks like crap but I just spent the last who-knows-how-many hours doing yard work. Our yards aren't big but damn they're exhausting to mow. Especially the front with the freaking hill. And the backyard seems tiny until you're mowing it. Then I had to edge everything (per the landlady's wants). I worked at that until the freaking weed wacker decided to spew out the last of it's string. I was not in the mood to reload it so I decided I was done for the day.
Then I took a hot shower. Every inch of my body hurt but especially my back. Then I come inside to find the house a disaster--food all over the kitchen, candy from Easter all over the floor (wrappers, too), the kids had gotten into stuff in the garage so I had to clean that up before it got run over when Patrick got home.
Now they're whining about dinner. Fuck that. They can get their own damn dinner. I can barely move. In fact I haven't even eaten today. I had a 100 calorie snack thing around 11am. That's it. My head is killing me which I'm sure is a combination of not eating, strenuous work and the hot sun. I'm constantly amazed at how hot 70F feels up here. Especially without a cloud in the sky. Tomorrow it might just break 80F.
Now I'm gonna sit my ass down, eat a couple pepperoni Lean Pockets and do nothing else.
Oh, and I also wrote three chapters of the story I'm working on. That was 3150 words. This was supposed to be a 5 times story for
fivetimesbb and my goal was 10k words over 5 stories but this is turning into something completely else. I'm only like halfway through part one and already at 6000 words. So I think I'm going to drop out of the challenge and concentrate on making this a really good adventure/drama/angst Sam/Jack story. This used to be my bread and butter and it's nice to get back into a multi-chapter story.

For a peek at the prologue go here.
I started writing this as part of
fivetimesbb but I didn't get really inspired until now. And I haven't had the energy to really work on it until now. The rough draft was supposed to be due on the 1st. I decided I didn't want to rush it to meet the deadline and dropped out of the challenge so I could actually focus and put a lot of thought into this one. It's been a long time I've wanted to write multi-chaptered stories. I just hope this "urge" sticks around for awhile.
Anyway... here you go. I'll post a snippet of a chapter each day I guess. Keep ya'll guessing at what is really going on.
Oh, it's going to be blatant Sam/Jack. Fair warning.

Chapter 1:
Sam woke with a start—head pounding, heart racing, and absolutely no idea where she was. All she did know was she hurt. Everywhere. Blood was sticking to her face making it impossible to open her eyes. Breathing wasn't much easier. She tried to move her arm up to wipe it away but it was pinned under her, the other arm trapped by something heavy. It hurt. A lot. She bit back a groan. What the hell had happened?
