digital photography: landscapes
22 Jun 2014 02:20 pmMonday starts the new term and I'm taking Context of Writing and Digital Photography.
Our first assignment in photography is landscapes/cityscapes. As my kids pointed out: we live in Washington... everything is landscapes. It's true, we have the most amazing natural settings. I was looking through my photos to see what I've already taken. I had forgotten about some of them. I'm trying to figure out where to go to take pictures because we have like 6 gallons of gas and no money to fill the tank.
These are some of the landscapes I've taken since I've lived in the Pacific Northwest.

Crater Lake, Oregon
I actually stitched this together from two separate photos.

Highway 14 from the Cape Horn lookout, Washington

Seaside, OR

Mount St. Helens, Washington

the Columbia River Gorge from Cape Horn lookout on Highway 14, Washington

some park in Washington off of Highway 14

Steigerwald wildlife preserve, Washougal, WA

Steigerwald, Washougal, WA

Mt. Hood taken from the I-205 bridge into Oregon

Oregon Coast

Cannon Beach, OR

Lacamas Creek, Camas, WA

Lacamas Creek, Camas, WA

Dougan Falls, Washougal, WA

Steigerwald Fire, Washougal, WA
The ones from Lacamas Creek I took the other day with my phone. It has more megapixels than my DSLR camera, lol. The easiest place to get to are Lacamas Creek and Steigerwald. Steigerwald is within walking distance if I wanna run across the highway (it's like a 1/2 mile down the road). Dougan Falls is a bit of a drive up into the mountains, but it is gorgeous and there are places to stop all along the Washougal River. If I was brave I could drive up the logging road to the top of the mountain and get breathtaking views. We did that once and I nearly threw up from the panic attack when we got to the top (it was a very windy, narrow road dirt road). What I'd really like is to go back to Cape Horn. It's 10? miles east of us on Highway 14. There are also other parks nearby to explore. I have to finish writing that damn paper for literary theory first. Ugh... the class that will never end.
