so strange

I just got this email from a person called Jo Schneider with an attachment about a guest blog. I was like, "nice fishing, like I'm going to open that." But I reread the letter because it was real personal like, using my name like she knew me. Something sounded familiar about it. So I investigated and realized I'm an idiot.
Months ago I signed up to read some ARCs from Jolly Fish Press (a small publisher in Utah) and Jo's was the first I received. I also signed up for her blog tour which is what she was contacting me about. I looked through my emails and completely missed another letter from the publisher about setting up my blog for the tour. That was sent on the 7th. The tour started on the 10th. I'm an idiot, lol. I feel even worse because I never even read the book.
So, anyway, I had to write her back because I felt like such a dork. Now I'm scrambling to read her book (which sounds really interesting which is probably why I opted to do the tour), set up the raffle thing, and post her guest post (which I still have to read). AHHHHHHH! *images of me running around with arms flailing like in Home Alone*
I'm still laughing at my idiocy. She wrote me back not to worry. She seems really nice (which makes me feel more guilty). At least it gives me something to do tonight that isn't homework. Humanities paper comparing Vincent van Gogh and John Constable... eh.
For anyone interested the book is called New Sight by Jo Schneider. This is the synopsis they gave me:
I don't usually read books about magic but this one sounded really interesting in the way magic is presented as a drug. I was intrigued. Obviously not enough to remember to read the dang thing. I downloaded it in December for crying out loud. Must have been the Christmas stress that made me forget.
The book comes out on April 22.

After succumbing to the sudden and terrifying urge to rip people’s eyes
out of their sockets, 16-year-old Lysandra Blake finds herself tied down
in a psych ward, convinced she’s crazy. The doctors have no answers,
and Lys is ready to give up when the mysterious Jeremiah Mason
appears, telling Lys that she’s not insane—she’s addicted to a rare and
deadly drug that she has no recollection of using. Mr. Mason offers to
take her to his facility where he can treat her. Desperate yet suspicious,
Lys agrees to go with Mr. Mason to his facility where she meets with a
fellow addict, the tall and handsome Kamau. Together they discover that
Mr. Mason may not have told them the truth about their condition—
they’re thrown headfirst into a world of daunting powers that are not only
unbelievable, they are dangerous.
